Welcome! I'm Cortny Toomey. My journey at St. Johns Middle School began in 2015, when I spent the school year teaching 8th grade US History as a student teacher in Mrs. Loznak's classroom. Then, in 2016, I was thrilled to accept a position teaching Social Studies here at SJMS. I am a Michigan State graduate with a degree in Secondary History Education, a minor in Secondary Mathematics, and an endorsement to teach all Secondary Social Studies classes. I grew up in DeWitt, where I met and later married my high school sweetheart, Mike. We currently live in Riley Twp. with our three ragamuffin pups: Winston (left), Clementine (center), and Penny (right). When I'm not teaching, I can usually be found writing, cooking or baking, taking pictures, watching Jeopardy, solving crossword puzzles, reading, or spending time with my family.
